Dr Ranj’s asthma masterclass
Ah, September. It’s that time of year when we realise summer’s over, it starts getting a little chillier… and when we often see a large spike in the number of children being rushed to hospital with asthma attacks.
There are a few possible reasons why children are at higher risk of asthma attacks after returning to school - a lot of colds going about, and maybe their asthma management got a bit disrupted over the holidays. This year, there’s added concern that children have been off for longer than usual because of the COVID-19 pandemic - and might have missed their annual asthma reviews.
So we were delighted when ITV’s This Morning picked up on our media alert and highlighted the issue, inviting Dr Ranj to host an asthma masterclass on the programme earlier this week.
The masterclass covers how to avoid a back to school asthma attack, how to use your inhaler correctly, and the importance of using an asthma action plan (available from the Asthma UK website here).
Imagine a world with no asthma helpline, no research and where asthma has no voice.
