Moments that have made us proud this year

There have been some really exciting moments so far this year. From some fantastic developments in research, the launch of our sister charity the British Lung Foundations’ new mindfulness support group, and the Hope Half Hour walking challenge, Nicola, from our digital team, takes you through what we’ve achieved together so far this year.

Potential research breakthroughs

We’ve had exciting updates from some of our researchers. The research of Adam Byrne has revealed both a new approach that could improve diagnosis of asthma, and also a potential new type of treatment. Further work is needed explore these promising findings, but could pave the way to better outcomes for people living with asthma.

We’ll be updating you on this and more great research over the coming months!

More personal insights into lung health

We re-launched our research network, looking to gather insight into living with a lung condition like asthma recently and have seen a huge number of people sign up! We now have more than 650 members sharing their experiences and helping to influence our work. Increasing sign ups is essential! Want to join them?

More mindfulness groups

The launch of our mindfulness support group, run by our partner charity the British Lung Foundation, has gone off to a super start, filling up in a matter of days! The six week taster course aims to reduce emotional distress and reduce fatigue via a mix of techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, compassion and supportive, mindful movement practice. We’ll be running more soon, so stay in touch!

Our Hope Half Hour Heroes

We're so proud of all our hope half hour heroes, who walked for 30 minutes every day in January. Together you raised over £40,000! What an incredible achievement.

In this blog, Hope Half Hour hero Nicki tells us why she took part and what she enjoyed about the 30 minutes a day new year walking challenge.
